COSMAX currently holds the most certifications in the cosmetics ODM industry. COSMAX has acquired a wide range of quality assurance certifications, displaying efforts for technical innovations, while satisfying the mandatory requirements of each country, taking the lead in pioneering in overseas markets for overseas entry of its customers. Starting from the CGMP certification acquired in 1998, COSMAX obtained a range of cosmetics manufacturing and quality assurance certifications including: ISO 22716 (international cosmetics GMP), ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) OHSAH 18001 (health and safety management), and COSMOS (organic cosmetics certification). Subsequently, COSMAX passed screening for cosmetics and over-the-counter (OTC) registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Health Canada. Addition,ally the company also acquired MUI certification from one of the three major international Halal certifications, as well as vegan cosmetics production certification from EVE, a French certification agency, thereby delivering a company presence with of top quality, capable of satisfiing the mandatory requirements of each country. Furthermore, the company preserves and manages the finest global quality system through periodic audits in cooperation with global companies such as L'Oréal, Johnson & Johnson and Mary Kay.

    CGMP guidelines stipulate matters required for the evaluation, designation and follow-up management of cosmetics manufacturing, quality management for cosmetics manufacturers, and CGMP certification, given to factories that establish and operate production facilities in accordance with the latest CGMP certification of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. COSMAX acquired CGMP certification in 1998.

  • FDA OTC FDA Over The Counter

    FDA OTC

    OTC products refer to over-the-counter drugs sold directly to customers without a prescription from a health care professional. If a cosmetic product is classified as OTC, it must be registered with the U.S. FDA, and pass the stringent approval procedures that apply to medical supplies. In general, sun products that are sold in economically advanced economies such as the United States are classified as over-the-counter drugs, rather than cosmetic products. Additionally, OTC products are classified as cosmetics are also considered as quasi-drugs, which require both to satisfy the cosmetics regulations and quasi-drug regulations to be sold. COSMAX satisfied the regulations on OTC products imposed by the U.S. FDA for the first time in Korea, finally being able to offer safe cosmetics to its consumers around the world.

    In general, to export cosmetics and OTC drugs to Canada, products must pass the standards of Health Canada on the stability and effects. The standards pose a higher entry barrier than the standards of the U.S. FDA, mandating products to undergo a strict screening procedure. COSMAX acquired the industry’s first certification on the manufacturing of cosmetics, and OTC drugs from Health Canada, finally being able to provide safe cosmetics to consumers throughout the world.

    This is an international standard used to demonstrate that the working conditions and health systems of a workplace satisfy international standards. COSMAX was able to acquire the certification in September 2007 as the first company to do so in the history of domestic cosmetics industry.     This implies an organic certification organization that conducts tests per Organic Quality Management Regulations under the laws of the European Union (EU) and manages organic certifications through annual reexamination as to whether agricultural products and their processed goods observe organic regulations, as well as the organic certification granted by this organization. This certification is internationally recognized, not just in Europe. COSMAX was the first company to acquire ECOCERT certification in the history of the ODM industry, as well as develop and manufacture various organic cosmetic products.

  • MUI Majelis Ulama Indonesia

    MUI

    MUI (MUI·MAJELIS ULAMA INDONESIA), one of the three major Halal certification agencies in the world has public confidence and provides certifications that are recognized in over 40 countries worldwide. Halal is an Arabic word that translates to “permissible” in English under the religious text of Islam, which is permitted for consumption by Muslims. In 2016, COSMAX Indonesia acquired the certification from MUI , the first company to achieve this in the history of the ODM industry in Korea. This certification is mandatory to enter into the Halal market, and although the production requires complicated procedures, it allows cosmetics companies to secure female Muslim customers, who have difficulties using the general cosmetic products, as loyal consumers.

  • International fair trade FAIRTRADE@WORK

    International fair trade

    This certificate is awarded by Fairtrade International(FLO) to companies that meet their requirements by encouraging the use of fair trade certified products in lounges, cafeterias, and canteens, while practicing social contribution through such establishments. COSMAX was the first company in the history of the cosmetics industry in Korea to acquire this certification in 2018. The company has announced a commissioned general manager to run the program through the consumption of fair trade products.
